Wazuka is known in Japan as Chagenkyō — the village at the source of tea. This bottle comes from those hills.
Highlights
- Samidori cultivar from Wazuka-cho, Kyoto — the mountain valley at the heart of Uji tea country, where the same soil and fog that shape Japan's finest matcha also produce this sencha.
- Uji-region green tea at its most structured: vivid green, classically layered, with the cool mineral depth that centuries of mountain cultivation produce in a leaf.
- 720ml, room temperature stable — crafted to hold the full character of Wazuka through a full year of storage without refrigeration or compromise.
- Nothing like it on American shelves — a shelf-stable, single-origin premium bottled tea, sent directly from CRAFT BREW TEA Studio in Shizuoka.

Producer's Story
CRAFT BREW TEA Studio is a precision brewing workshop within Marushichi Seicha — a Shizuoka tea house with over 100 years of history — launched in 2021 after two decades of preparation. Each bottle is made from one cultivar, one farm, one harvest day, brewed at 3–5× normal leaf concentration and sealed at peak extraction. The same discipline, every time. The full story of CRAFT BREW TEA lives on the Imperial Yame Gyokuro page.
Tasting Notes
Bright green, clear and vivid. The aroma carries fresh grass and new spring leaves with a quiet mineral undertone from Wazuka's mountain soil. On the palate: clean sweetness opens first, followed by a structured umami mid-note, finishing with a long cool aftertaste. Classic Uji character — nothing extraneous.
Pairing Ideas
A natural companion for Japanese cuisine: serve alongside sashimi, cold soba, or a miso-based meal. The Samidori's clean structure also works with lighter Western dishes — burrata, steamed white fish, a simple salad with citrus. For those who already know Nakai's Wazuka organic matcha: this is the same valley, the same season, in a different form.
