Need to Know

Ordering from CookGood.JP — honestly, in plain words.

Satisfaction

  • Your satisfaction matters to us — contact us anytime; we're happy to help.
  • We have 100% positive feedback across 629 orders shipped worldwide through our eBay store — see our Customer Voices page. We bring that same care to every order.

Payment

  • Prices show in your local currency (converted automatically when you pick your country).
  • PayPal for orders under JPY 100,000 (~US$650) — covered by PayPal Buyer Protection (more info). Credit cards for any amount.

Shipping

  • Dispatch takes a few days — up to 10 at most — we gather your full order fresh from the producers.
  • Full tracking via FedEx, UPS, or Japan Post — and we follow your parcel all the way to delivery, handling any customs hold ourselves. No extra work on your side.
  • Priced by total box weight — combining items costs less per item. U.S. example (500 ml soy sauce): 1 bottle ≈ $44 · 2 ≈ $50 · 3–5 ≈ $69 · case of 6 ≈ $88.
  • Exact cost is shown at checkout. (A few remote addresses may carry a carrier surcharge.)
  • Fragile pieces are wrapped by hand, one at a time, in sturdy transit boxes (recycled materials where we can) — drawing on years of securing fine glassware and sake vessels worldwide.

A note on our boxes: to avoid waste, your order may travel in a clean, reused shipping box. The care is in the wrapping inside.

Customs & duties

  • U.S.: duties are calculated and paid at checkout — no extra bill when it's delivered.
  • Outside the U.S.: duties and taxes are paid by the buyer to the carrier on delivery, separate from shipping. We can share duty information — please contact us.
  • If a parcel is refused or returned because duties went unpaid or the address was incorrect, any return or disposal costs fall to the buyer — but we'll always help you avoid this.
  • To keep customs smooth and lawful, we declare every parcel at its true value.
  • U.S. food orders: we file the required FDA Prior Notice in-house (20+ years in the food industry).

Personal use & business orders

  • Orders are shipped and declared as personal imports unless you tell us otherwise — we don't put restaurant or company names on the label.
  • Buying for business or resale? Contact us first — we have a dedicated B2B process (minimum order quantities apply).

Returns & exchanges

  • Because everything is fresh food or handmade, we can’t accept returns or exchanges, including unopened items — but if anything isn’t right, tell us and we’ll make it right.
  • Not sure something's right for you? Ask us anytime — we're glad to help you choose.

If something arrives damaged

  • Contact us within 7 days with clear photos of the item and the outer box, including the shipping label.
  • Usually no need to send anything back; we may ask you to keep it until the carrier's inspection is complete.
  • We review every case personally and make it right — a replacement, or a refund where appropriate.

Gift cards

  • Our digital gift card, A Journey to Japan, is delivered by email and never expires.
  • At checkout it applies to everything — products, shipping, and U.S. duties alike. Any balance left simply waits for the next order.
  • As is standard for digital gift cards, gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
